Before you order
GPS
If you intend connecting your Optifuel to a GPS, make sure that your
GPS first has the facility to communicate with other equipment via a
serial port RS 232, secondly that the format of data can be set to NMEA
183 at 4800 bauds. You will need to provide the correct connector and
cable from your GPS as every GPS is different.
Calibration process
Each impeller provided with the OptiFuel is designed and manufactured
by ourselves. Although it has been calibrated in the factory, the instrument
provides a facility to fine tune the impeller once installed in a particular
aircraft. Due to inherent problems with fluids each installation has
its peculiarities. It is imperative that each pilot takes the time to
understand the calibration process of the impeller. With the help of
statistics for a couple of flights will manage to fine tune the instrument
to give very satisfactory results. The aim is for the pilot to trust
the results displayed by the instrument and remove the stress of not
knowing the fuel situation on board.
